I just read this on the general portion of this message board and was curious how it applied directly to the military side of the board. How many times has everyone involved in military aviation moved in their career? Of all the places you've lived what was the most enjoyable?

Just getting a feel for things,

R.S.

Been in since 1995 and I've been stationed at four different bases.

1995-1997 - Laughlin AFB, TX
1997-2001 - Columbus AFB, MS
2001-2002 - Seymour Johnson, NC
2002 - Present - RAF Lakenheath, UK
Scheduled to PCS again in 2004.

In my opinion, the bases I've been at have gotten progressively better as I've gone along and I like my current station the best.

9 times in 22 years. Overseas assignments were high up on the list of most enjoyable. Your wife's attitude goes a long way towards making a military career enjoyable or miserable. Make sure you have one that really wants to see different places and experience new things. A wife that you have to peel away from her family is not a good bet.

81-82 Reese AFB Lubbock TX
82 Davis Monthan Tucson AZ
83-85 Iowa ANG Des Moines IA
85-89 Nellis AFB and Tonapah Test Range NV
89-93 Spangdahlem AB Germany
93-95 Langley AFB Hampton VA
96 Kunsan AB Korea
97-99 Aviano AB Italy
99-now Luke AFB Phoenix AZ

Best CONUS was Langley
Best Overseas was Aviano closely followed by Spang

Don't like the desert so that is where I spent most of my time in the states, too darned hot!

Korea is too hot and humid and then it is too cold and humid, but one thing never changes, it doesn't smell good.

BTW worked way too much while in Italy, but life outside of work there was outstanding. Going back ASAP
