Thanks to all of the great replies on my previous interview questions - ones with answers that just don't pop out in either the FAR's OR the AIM. Some of these airline interviewer's are torturer's aren't they?
How's about these (...things that I just took for granted)
What cloud cover fraction depicts a broken layer?
Ans: Six to eight-tenths (?)
Identify the difference between a displaced threshold and a clear way.
Ans: Displaced Thresholds are useable for takeoffs and landing roll outs. Clearways are unuseable.
What are std takeoff minimums for Part 121/135?
Ans: Part 121/135 Published T/O mins, if none are depicted then: 1 mile vis (2 engine or less) or ½ mile for more than 2 engines.
(Here's a tricky trio from a PSA interview...)
When holding at an NDB, the timing of the first outbound leg begins when?
Ans: I think it's when you're abeam of the fix? For other type fixes I think it’s when the outbound turn is completed OR
when wings are level – whichever ocurrs LAST?
AND:
You have just departed IFR and ATC says “Radar Contact” What does that mean regarding traffic seperation?
Ans: ATC will provide you traffic separation ONLY from all other IFR traffic.
When cleared for an approach from a holding pattern in lieu of procedure turn additional circuits can be accomplished (when trying to loose excess altitude or to be better established on course) WHEN? Pilot’s discretion or only after advising ATC?
Ans: Only after advising ATC upon receipt of the approach clearance.
Well folks, did I pass or...
