How does sick time work? Is it paid ? Do you have to visit the EK clinic after calling in sick?

What does the Command assessment program entail?

When your seniority number can hold the left seat , are you automatically put in to the Command Program or do you have to be selected?

What is the policy regarding family emergencies when you are on a trip? Do they fly you back?

What is the policy if you get sick on a trip?

Do you have to get permission to leave Dubai on your days off?

thanks in advance

How does sick time work? Is it paid ? Do you have to visit the EK clinic after calling in sick? Sickness in excess of 48 hours requires a trip to the doctor. Long term sick leave is not uncommon. Guys go out for one month, two months, six months and they stay on full base pay the entire time. The company is extremely good where this is concerned.

What does the Command assessment program entail? It starts when you do your first officer training. You performance is monitored throughout your career as a first officer. If any weak areas are seen they will be addressed. When it's your turn to upgrade the assessment starts wtih a Psych eval, technical quiz, and then an interview with the Deputy Chief Pilot. That along with your performance as an F.O. is then used to determine if you will be placed in an upgrade class. Typically 80 to 90 percent of the guys have no problems. Of the 10-20 percent some will not be offered a class, perhaps a delay of one year and further evaluation.

When your seniority number can hold the left seat , are you automatically put in to the Command Program or do you have to be selected? Answered above

What is the policy regarding family emergencies when you are on a trip? Do they fly you back? Generally yes.

What is the policy if you get sick on a trip? Honestly it depends where. If you're the only guy there who can fly the airplane some managers will try to pressure you into flying if at all possible. If you are truly unfit to fly then no harm will come to you by refusing. That determination can be made by an SOS doctor at any outstation.

Do you have to get permission to leave Dubai on your days off? No, but you are required to inform the company unless it annual leave.

thanks in advance
