Not good news. At least people will be flying through the holidays but still bad news. Interesting that only DFW is impacted for now...

Good luck to all involved!

DALLAS (AP) -- American Eagle, the regional-flying affiliate of American Airlines, may furlough 223 Texas-based pilots and flight attendants in February as the company cuts costs under bankruptcy protection.
American Eagle notified Texas officials of the possible furloughs on the same day that its CEO told employees that bankruptcy reorganization will mean job losses and unpopular decisions.

Eagle vice president Cathy McCann told the Texas Workforce Commission in a letter received Thursday that 119 pilots and 104 flight attendants in the Dallas-Fort Worth area could lose their jobs around Feb. 13.

The notice does not cover employees outside Texas. Airline officials did not immediately respond to messages asking whether workers in other states could lose their jobs.
American, the nation's third-biggest airline, has about 74,000 employees, and Eagle has about 14,000, including part-timers.

Sad to say but I'd bet there will be much more in the future. I hope I'm wrong, but I think this is just the beginning.

And now is when Genital Lee posts his dribble to rub your nose in it.....ha ha, told you lousy RJ pilots, etc, etc.....

They furlough out of seniority? Or does the bottom 119 happen to be DFW based? Best of luck to all involved, I know how much it sucks...

Does noone notice the idiot reporting saying they are going to furlough out of a base as opposed to system wide? hope it's not a senior base or those guys would be pissed! ;-)

So far it's only displacements. And even at that it doesn't say that it's happening for sure. They're still trying to re-negotiate the leases on the -212As. No one is losing their job from this...yet! That's the media for ya though. There were rumors floating around that they were going to furlough by equipment (i.e all ATR pilots), but that is not the case and the company has dismissed that as well.

they are required to notify the laborr dept in Texas of possible furloughs. Those are the possible furloughs for texas only, I would guess. Extrapolate seniority numbers system wide below the 119th pilot in DFW and you may have an estimation of the numbers. My 2c worth from the way I understood the article.

They'll just have a displacement bid and the junior 119 will be gone. I'd bet its just the opening salvo.

Sounds like the fate of the ATR in DFW is done. Im sure SJU is safe. The real pain will be had when they figure out the fate of the EMB's. My guess is the 135/140's go. The rest of the jets stay... Only the 8th training cycle for the 98-2000 hire guys..
