I like my job and the people at it. The next step is one that worries me.

I'd like to be working another job I like and making lots of money, but it seems that I'm not going to get either. I understand the money aspect in the realm of today's problems, but why morale? I see posts all over that "XXXX company isn't what it used to be". Why?

Perhaps morale is down because the position has changed from that of the steady captain who guides is plucky craft through weather fair or foul to that of a heavily regulated employee who worries for his job, his benefits, and his retirement, with his company losing market share while his pilot group loses clout.

Times change, businesses change. What you thought would continue until you retired has stopped or changed so much that it is unrecognizeable.

Pretty much like radio and TV. :)
