Looking at a possible move to the Addison area, and just wondering if anybody could give me some info on Monarch air in the area. Which would be the best for instrument training, McKinney or Addison? Anything else you could shed some light on would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

All three locations are solid. Addison is the "mothership." McKinney is second busiest and RBD is the slowest (read: aircraft and instructors more available). You will burn a lot of Hobbs in ADS getting in and out, though. Something to consider.

RBD probably has the best "flight" location and it's quick to get in and out to the practice area and utilize the Southern DFW approach buffett of not only RBD, but also HQZ, JWY, GPM, and GKY.

Good MX, good instructors, and nice diversity of aircraft. Not the cheapest in the DFW area, but you do get what you pay for. Owned by retired Delta CA and operated by his son, an AA pilot.

I did all my training with them and was happy with it. The instructors were just "passing through" pretty much but seemed focused enough to git er done though. Training at Addison is nice for getting the radio chops up, but you'll be glad you went to McKinney to save some idle hobbs hours. Plus you'll pick up other closer airports for more of a variety of approaches. Coming into Addison you'll be vectored and shoved through to make room for fast movers. You will get the chance to shoot approaches at 120 kts though. :)
