Mokulele Flight Tours, any feedback?

Out of Kona airport on the Big Island of Hawaii. They have 172, 206 and BN2 as well as starting baron and chieftans for charter. Mostly volcano and island tours. Sounds like a great place to build time, but does anyone know about the company or operation?

Just saw an advert for them during the break for "board stories" on the local channel. First I have heard of them...I will try and find out some info for you.

if Phil A. has anything to do with that operation, i'd say be careful. he's a cocky, scheming SOB. and he does not have your best interests in mind.

I'm pretty sure I am thinking of this place, but I could easily be wrong...

They were looking for someone pretty long term, and they were really interested in pilot/mechanics. I knew someone there and I don't think he'd hang around a shady operator at all. I didn't really consider moving to the islands because I just like my snow too much. Speaking of which, the local mountain is 100% open!

Yeah yeah, but bands sing about surfing a lot more than they do boarding. And I don't have much of an imagination.

Where do you live? I love snow but I'm stuck here in the midwest. At least I've got a trip to Aspen after thanksgiving for a few days so I will be able to get some skiing in!

It is a VFR 135 operation. Apparently due to insurance though, they require 1,000 hrs. That's what the owner told me anyway.

It sounds like a good company overall.

Ya I have been in contact with them lately. They are a VFR 135 tour operator. They sid they are statring up an IFR Twin charter operation soon, but minimums were wicked high. Just Curious as I am in chicago, but am very interested in making the lifestyle change to Hawaii. Wanted to be sure they weren't one of the "Run, dont' walk away" operators that people seem to know of.

On another note, how many of you out there have moved from the mainland to Hawaii? I lived in FLorida the past few years and want to get back where the Weather is tropical and a beach nearby. Is there any Culture shock for you? How about interisland flying? and moving up to a hawaiin carrier after a few years?
