Those palm trees and tall clouds bring back memories, is that at Kwajalein?

MIRV's are scary, amazing systems. As kids, many of us worried about Soviet warheads raining down on our heads. We imagined what the trails would look like, before the bright flash, followed by your own dark tunnel, bright light experience. Now I know what it would look like.

That's a cool picture. Thanks!

See, that's the difference between a Democrat and a Republican.

As a kid, I lived on Charleston NWS in South Carolina. I saw the trucks hauling missiles to the sub piers and I knew exactly what my dad's job was...operate as a crew member on a stealthy underwater missile sub.

When I was a kid, I imagined what it would be like to have to maneuver perpendicular and eventually upwind of the fallout cloud, find shelter, find food, water and a reliable chopper and some ammo. After that, it was going to be all biscuits and gravy.

What I always found to be great footage is that of the Sprint Antiballistic Missile. 100 G acceleration on launch. While that acceleration does not support the assertion that the missile was supersonic prior to leaving the silo, it was VERY soon thereafter.

NOTE: The only footage in this video that was shot at real speed (not extremely slowed down speed) is the one where the missile screams out
in a "now you see it, now you don't" mode.
