My wife just got my PPL card back home and my middle name is mis-spelled...just wondering what (if anything) I should do...

I'll be taking my IR ride in the next 2-3 days so I'll just be getting another temporary, but I'm wondering if the name will still show up FUBAR?

If it matters: It is spelled correctly on my medical and PPL temporary

Thanks for the help

It sure seems like the Feds have been making their share of errors on pilot certificates recently. As long as you're going to be taking a checkride in the very near future, I'd personally let it ride. Just make sure that the information is correct on your new temporary.

Thank you, sir!

The best thing to do would be to talk to the examiner and ask him what to do BEFORE your ride. Technically under the rules he's not supposed to take it. I've seen it go both ways so I would check with the examiner on how he/she wants to handle it.

Just give him/her your temporary. We're only talking a day or two. The chances are that you wouldn't even be able to get an appointment at the FSDO before then anyway. After your checkride you'll be issued another temporary - just make sure all of the info is correct on that one, as well as on the premanent certificate issued from it.

Thats what I figured...I'll just give him my temp...

...its funny, everything is right on my temporary AND my medical...they just swapped two little letters on my permanent.... its Michael not Micheal ... argh...

Anyway, thanks again for the advice...maybe I should play it like I never got the actual one?

I'm bettin' that since you're in the system with a number now, nothing short of contacting the FAA directly will fix it. Otherwise, I expect you'll get your next Permanent Certificate with the exact same typo - - they'll just look at your number and run. Maybe a note attached to the paperwork for your next rating could do the trick - - I'd give this guy both and show him what's up - - he may know just the thing to get it fixed.
