Anyone know where I can find a military to civillian headset adapter? I only found one on the internet and it was around $60...

Thanks.

David Clark has them

David Clark has an excellent quality adapter.
I bought the cheapest one available (like a good pilot) and got about 15 months out of it while at Comair. I wrote (internet) to David Clark and got an excellent quality adapter, smaller lighter and definately industrial strength. Price was maybe 10 bucks more but definately worth it. PM me for a part number in a week or so

If you are going to use a military headset for GA use you have to have a headset that has the high impedence/low impedence switch for the mic or it will not work. You will be able to listen, but not talk. Otherwise you just wasted your 60.00 and might as well sell it on e-bay!

When you by an adapter for the military headset you need to buy not only one which goes from one plug to two plugs but alsohas a small impedance adjuster in it. The David Clark I mentioned previously and some others work fine. The quality of the David Clark is much better though. I used it on a the standard USAF DavidClark 10-71 and 10-71xl (ANR). Flew 2200 hours in 2 1/2 years with them.

yep,
Also try ebay for a replacement headset when needed.
Maybe I'm reading you wrong, but are you saying that these things can destroy your headset?
