Hey everyone!! I graduated from flightsafety academy in Fl. last May and left because my wife got a job offer in Ohio. I have my multi-single engine commercial/instrument; 400TT 50ME and right now I don't have the money to get my cfi and won't for sometime. Would it be a better route to go to the military (I have a local Air National Guard equipped with C-130) and build time? If any of you have been in my situation or have gone the military route any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!! Take care

If you want to build time fast then the military route is not neccesarily the answer. I looked into a C-130 Squadron when in college. First you had to get into the unit, probably in an enlisted capacity. Then you have to hope they honor their end and send you off to OCS. Then you have to hope they get a training slot. Some years they do, some years they don't. It was too big of a gamble with too many uncertanties. Had I done it and had it paid off, then I would probably have had another 250 hours over 2 plus years.

In two plus years of civilian flying how much time do you think you can build ? Sure it is not the same quality as Air Force training, but if it is the airlines you are interested in then the military route takes a lot longer.
