OK let me start by saying that I do not have the GI Bill so that is not an option.

I am wondering if there are any other paths. Like any VA type thing or Tuition Assistance or something.

Thanks
Rob

Rob,

Sorry, TA can't be used for flight training and there are no VA programs other than VEAP or GI Bill that can be used.

There are some state programs that will help out if you have used up/don't have GI Bill. Texas' Hazelwood act is one.

You can always apply for the WIA (Workforce investment act) for flight training....

If you are near a major college, see if they have a Veterans assistance officer on staff, they will help you out...

I just went through the Tap Seminar and asked these questions.
No Gi Bill and you won't get anything from the VA. If you qualify for the WIA, you can get money for flight training if you need it for a job, like a 737 type. Talk to your states DOLabor vetrans rep. You need to make very litttle money to qualify.

I have heard of people the GI bill for flight training, & this was taken from the GI Bill website, I would ask the question. This person did say that he does not have the GI Bill.
The problem with any kind of training is that the training center/school must be approved to conduct this type of training, by the gov....

Montgomery GI Bill - Active Duty (MGIB) General or Detailed Information
The MGIB program provides up to 36 months of education benefits. This benefit may be used for degree and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training and correspondence courses. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances. Generally, benefits are payable for 10 years following your release from active duty. This program is also commonly known as Chapter 30. Check the "News" area for current rates of payment.

Im sorry, I meant to say because this guys no longer has the Gi Bill, he won't get anything from the VA. If you still have your benifits, you can use the GI bill to pay for flight training at a VA approved school

Thanks for all the replies. I figured it was a shot in the dark.

Jim I will keep the rehab thing in mind. I will be retiring with 20-30% or more I would think. I have a plate and some screws holding my ankle together. Plus a few other things. If you don't mind me asking how hard is it to get the required 30% for retraining? Anything I can do to make it smoother? Feel free to PM or E-mail me on that. Thanks
