I did a search and all I found was some stuff about hotel rewards.

What is the best credit card for miles? Since I don't carry a balance I was thinking about getting one and paying all of my bills with it, like mortgage and others. Then send the money to the card company. Seems like it would be pretty much free miles. I would send the money out to the credit card before it was due so that I wouldn't have any interest build up.

Good or Bad idea?

Bad idea unless you put a lot of money on it monthly. I think all miles cards have annual fees that are $50-$100. Say you put $2000/month on your card, thats 24000 miles. It would take a little over two years to get two round trip tix.

If you get a Discover or another card that pays 1% cash back. After two years at $2000/month you'd have $480. Probably enough to pay for 2 tix on South West. Maybee on other airlines also, if you buy in advance.

Anyway the cash back gives you more options and their are many that don't have the annual fee the airline cards have.

I have a Mastercard from Citibank that pays 5% on auto fuel, groceries and pharmacy sales, and 1% on all else. No annual fee. Discover is also good.

Many of my coworkers have Airline miles cards, and its benefitial for them, but they put between $10,000-$20,000 per month on it. They pay for the Jet-A with their own cards and the company reimburses them. So it depends on how much/month you're going to put on the cards.

Remember though, airlines are restrictive on how you can use miles, but they'll take your cash anyday.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking about a Capital One miles card. It says any airline and no blackout dates. Also you can get a ticket within one zone at 9000 miles. One mile per dollar.

I figure I would put around $5K a month on it. I have 2 houses and also the other nickle and dime bills. I will have to check out the anual fee though. Also if I start flying again I can use it there too. I will look into the cash back idea too.

Thanks
