Hello-

Real quick question-

I am applying for a job a Customs, and was wondering what the conversion from military to civil time is. I talked to someone in Jax, and he said we can multiply our mil time by some factor, because the flight time is take off to landing, and does not include taxi.

Does anyone know what this conversion factor is?

Thanks

Typical conversion factors the airlines (the ones that do) allow you to use is 0.3 hours for every sortie flown.

Conversion

60,

Application instructions didnt mention anything about adding a conversion. Most will specify if they want you to.

Didnt use one on my app.

Good luck

have been talking with some of the guys in Jax. that have some inputs into the hiring process, and one said I can use a converison factor. I will have to ask him again, if you look at it this way, us military folks are competing for slots with civilians, and it just kinda levels the playing filed.

By the way, did you get a slot, and how long did the application process take? I heard it can take up to 9 months.

Thanks and good luck.

Havent interviewed yet, got my Fedex package from them 2 weeks ago with my points and an availibility statement. Im hearing the interviews will begin in the next few weeks though. I also understand they didnt get nearly as many applicants as they want. MAy open the window back up.

Good luck

I subscribed to have all Custom job announcements e-mailed to me for close to a year, and have yet to see a pilot job announcement. Am I looking in the wrong place? How do you find out when window opens...what is contact point?

You just missed the boat. There were 100 pilot positions that closed last month I think. You can find out when the jobs are posted at usajobs.opm.gov

I suspect it won't be for another year or so before they have another hiring pool.
