The Faa in its grand wisdom is reducing staffing on all mids to only 3 per area. Basically it will be like you guys working all day with 8 hours off and then flying a midnight run with 2 hours to nap during the night. I would recommend you guys keep an extra eye out. The controllers are protesting it, but the Faa is imposing rules based on money not safety.

eh, the guys in the mids will make it work somehow. They always get business done the best anway. "just squawk 3344 take off and i'll handle ya" "which departure, ahh, just don't hit nothin..."

Just found out on another board that some centers are running as low as 2 controllers per area during a mid.

Wouldn't suprise me, I've flown from Fargo ND to Oscoda MI in the middle of the night and talked to the same center controller the whole night. The most radio traffic was when he'd call me to come up on another of his frequencies. He must have been running at least 8 frequencies that night.
