anyone know what's going on with mid-atlantic? they were supposed to get started last year... is it only furloughed mainline who can get on with them?

MDA will be available to U furloughees first, then w/o's, then new hires. With 1900+ pilots on furlough at U, it's gonna take a while to go thru that bunch. First MDA class of instructors starts in Sep. Line pilots start classes in Nov.

What if your a mainline guy over at midway or mesa and a position opens at MDA. Does that guy go there or must he stay at mesa or midway?

If so its gonna create alot of training events as these J4J guys get on with PSA/Mesa/midway and whoever else then leave as positions become available at MDA. Also will create positions at the less desirable J4J carriers which will be filled by street hires as WO ALG and PDT guys get tossed to the street.

However MDA doesn't sound that great with Eagles contract.

Its just my guess but I think there may be more than a few FO positions at MDA for WO guys as the mainline guys will pass due to the pay. However the Capt positions at MDA and PSA and others will be taken by mainline guys as its not that bad compared to what else is out there.

Who knows anyway, its all a big big mess.

Mainline pilots who accept a j4j position must stay at that airline for 12 months before accepting an MDA position. The good thing is they don't lose any seniortiy with that freeze. When they go to MDA they go at their U seniority. One more thing. A working mainline guy may choose to go to MDA. He would then allow a U furloughee to return to mainline (in theory). I can't imagine any mainline guy taking that pay cut just to get a type or a left seat, but you never know......
