IN ref. to Mid-Atlantic and the ERJ-170/175, how many of you out there think that the FO positions (at MDA) will be taken by Mainline guys?

I ask this because as we know MDA has to work under the Eagle contract. I can see mainline guys taking the capt. positions on the 170/175 but the FO positions.

At 85 jets on order thats about 850 pilots and say 450 of thoes will be capt slots that leaves 400 as FO slots. From conversation around the line some guys seem to think the same thing, that FO positions at MDA and on the 50 seaters at PSA and others won't be taken by many mainline guys.

Since MidAtlantic eill br flown on the US Airways certificate it will be a part of US Airways -- a bid position much like Metrojet was.

That means that bypassing a recall to MidAtlantic will not be possible.

The furloughees won't have the choice to make.

Granted this is all conjecture since the US Airways furlough administrator seems to have zero ability to effectively communicate.

That post was completely wrong.

Bypassing is at the pilots choice. Refusing a job at Mid Atlantic will have no effect on recall rights to mainline US Airways.

Also, the furlough coordinator is doing a fantastic job of communicating. PHil Osterhaus used to be the MEC Secretary Treasurer and is now the furlough coordinator. He is communicating quite well and answering all question on the AAA MEC message board.

communication

Those of us who took employment at other ALPA carriers no longer have access to the AAA ALPA Message board.

Tell Phil to get Roy and the comm. committee to start a website that ALL furloughed pilots have access to.

:)

A friend of mine works for MDA and had some observations. First, all U furloughees will be called in order and asked if they want to work there or not. If yes, then come on down. If no, not sure, any other response then see ya. It's one bite of the apple. No passes like you had on reserve at mainline.

Also, first Q next year will be pushing it to have everything up and running at MDA.

But, if nobody on furlough bites the apple for the FO postions, will these positions then be offered to WO? In what seniority (US Air Group hire date, PSA first b/c they have jets, and Allegheny last b/c they post such good performance #'s :))?

-Boo!

"(US Air Group hire date, PSA first b/c they have jets, and Allegheny last b/c they post such good performance #'s "

I would assume, if your not joking, that it would be by DOH on a combined list of the WO. The list BTW has been floating around for awhile and will be out shortly, it needs some kind of approval, thats what I was told at the last LEC meeting in SYR last week.

Anyway, this raises another question. What about PSA? They have the same rights to MDA as PDT and ALG but also now have secure (as secure as it can get I guess) jobs in the U grand plan. What happens if there are positions left over on the 60 CRJ's and ALG and PDT guys are on the street? Will they let us go there without giving up any rights we have with respect to what we got out of concessions?

Who knows, guess time will tell.

hehehe

... but also now have secure jobs in the U grand plan.

Heh...that part gave me a little chuckle.

<-- furloughed U-non-person not even given access to the AAA alpa web-board any longer.

:D

It won't matter anyway. After kickbacks, CEO bonuses, and golf club memberships, airways has about $32.17 left over out of that billion or so to buy RJ's with. Looks like we'll be in them whirlymcgigs for a few more decades anyway.

Somehow I just knew that would draw a comment.
