I'm heading down to Brooks soon for MFS and I was wondering exactly what I could expect. I've read things such as sitting height & EKG & psych test, but is there more than that? Is they eye test comparable to the Class I flight physical?

Thanks for the info!

EDIT: I just reviewed http://www.brooks.af.mil/web/fec/mfs_welcome.html; it appears to be straightforward, but just wondering if there's anything else...

Hey Boiler,
I'm headed down for MFS very soon as well. Just got the word from the AFRC board today that I was picked up. Did you get any training dates yet? I'm already commissioned so I was told to expect a May UPT date. I was told MFS is not a biggie at all..if you passed your FC1 with no problems, knock on wood.

the brooks deal is much less in depth than that FC1 was. There is nothing you can really do to prep for it, so just get plenty of rest. When i was there a while back, there was like 5 or 6 of us there, and we were all good to go. They check your heart, your sitting height, some eye stuff, and a psych test. A friend of mine was DQ'd from there a while back...they found something wrong with his eyes. So, it does happen, but i wouldn't be too worried about it.

Good Luck

I made a pretty long post about it just about 2 years ago...I wonder if I can find it...

Thanks guys!

No LTN yet, but its looking like August AMS with possibly an October UPT date (whatever is the start of FY07). We'll see when it all gets finalized...

I would highly disagree with that statement. The FC1 is a joke compared to Brooks. Brooks does an astronaut type physical and they do a good job making you think it is no big deal. I misunderstood the directions to the "red lens" test. I almost lost my UPT slot and I have been going back there once a year as they have me on a waiver. Brooks is the ultimate science experiment for Dr Ivan (head of optometry) and the rest of the clowns. My best advice is to only give yes/no answers and get out of there as quickly as possible.

i'm sure the full blown FC1 at brooks is..but from many folks who have gone through..MFS is not something to worry about.

Well I was one of the "lucky" two percent that had passed an FC1 at my unit but was DQ'd at Brooks. They said I had high occular pressure and that possibly (maybe, in the future, there was a chance of) causing glaucoma even though my eyesight was better than 20/20 with no damage or vision degradation whatsoever. No chance of a waiver...

I'm a three-time medical loser in the AF...DQ'd from DoDMERB in AFROTC, DQ'd because of an infected lymph node at MEPS for active duty OTS and now hard DQ'd at Brooks because of my eyesight. What a kick in the sack. Oh well, I guess the Lord didn't mean for me to be an Air Force pilot, so back to the RJ...

Woah man...that sucks.

I'm sure you did everything you could, but I wouldn't hesitate to try making some more calls. Maybe get a second opinion or something from another doc.

It wouldn't hurt to try. Best of luck to ya.
