Rumor is Trans States is getting some Metroliners to fly for United? Are you kidding me?

Metros...

Sweet, the pax will love 'em.

Even though I hate the current UAL paint scheme, I think it might look pretty good on the old Metroliner! Shiny paint on a 227 seems to be very rare these days. But seriously, you gotta wonder who starts these silly rumors?

What's the story of the Metroliner?

Probably the ugliest and goofiest looking passenger airplane designed. Does anyone know how this happened to aviation? Is it really true that a Metroliner has two engines so when the first one dies, the second can take you to the scene of the accident?

Awww, come on now....the Metro is actually a pretty cool looking airplane. I flew it for about 5 whole months, was fun to fly. So it's ACMs were pathetic and you sweated like a hog, but it was just as fast as a 1900C (raced one PHX-FLG once, we won) and at least it doesn't have those goofy looking fins and stabilizers stuck all over the tail. Lets bash on the Jetstream instead! :D

Indeed we are going backwards in this industry.
Dust off the old DC-3's!

If they did bring the DC 3 back, some airline exec would come up with a scheme and say "Hey, I bet the pilots would "pay-to-fly" the airplane". Nostalga and all.. and some probably would.

Mesaba bought about 16 of them last fall. Good thing is, they still loose money just like they did before we purchased them.

Nah..........you're thinking of the Metro II with the JATO bottle in the tail.:p It provided SAR with a smoke trail to the point of impact.

5 and a half years and 4500 hours in the "Tube"

AF:)

Naaaaha,
When I was at Trans States in the J-32, The motto was "Pissing the world off 19 seats at a time", to think Hulas would go back to "Pissing them off 19 seats at a time" flies in the face of Hulian logic.
He-He
PBR

Just a rumor. TSA still owns 3 metros, but they aren't at the boneyard- they are leased and in one case subleased to other companies- one flying in Alaska (I think the subleased one), one in the Caribean, and I'm not sure about the other. I'm sure whoever posted the rumor on the TSAloung just wanted to see how quick the rumor would spread. Starting in November there will be at least 10 J-41s in need of flying opportunities and I can't imagine that Hulas would rather have them sitting with metros flying instead.
