Just talked to a Mesaba mechanic last night. The company told them at the negotiating table yesterday that when the pilots get released to strike they are going to lay-off the ENTIRE maintenance department. They said somthing about that was it and they would shut to the doors for good.

I love some of the rumors on this board.

I hear that Mesaba was going to be receiving some older used 737's from Southwest.

Man they are starting to go after everyone. I hate to see this happen to such a great group of folks, both pilots and mechanics.

In hindsite, I'm glad i left when I did, and I never got hired to fly the line.

It used to be a fun place to work back in the day...remember the old gate 15 and cramming 6-7 Metro's in the back corner.

A common and predictable management strategy is to "leak" info to other employee groups that help put pressure on the current adversarial employee group.

If the mechanics were in the pilots situation, your management would be telling the pilots the same thing.

Don't fall for it.

Among the oldest "tricks" in their book.

Great post. I laughed my ass off. :D

It is guaranteed that the moment our 30 day cooling off period starts you will see press releases and stories every day threatening that the company will cease to exist if we go on strike. Everything the company says at this point cannot be trusted or believed. Hang in there people - if the company is starting to spread the threats it means we are getting a lot closer to release. They will not come to the table with anything meaningful until we are released and maybe not until we strike. It depends on how much money they have set aside to cover a strike as to when they will settle with us.

Stand fast!

Northwest is going to sell off Mesaba in order to buy some A380's when they come out.

Everyone should start applying to Northwest!!! :p
