Mesaba Jumpseat priority

FOM CH 9.3.6

Priority:

1. FAA/NTSB Secret Service.
2. XJ Pilots/Dispatchers on company business.
3. XJ Pilots/Dispatchers on personal travel.
4. Northwest Airlines/Pinnacle Airlines Pilots (first come, first serve basis) *see note
5. Other airline pilots/dispatchers with an approved reciprocal jumpseat agreement.
6. Flight Operations Interns

Note: Boarding priority will be assigned for passenger cabin seating to additional pilots from categories 4 (priority N80) and 5 (priority 9H) above when the flight deck jumpseat has been reserved. Boarding among OAL/Code share pilots of equal priority will be handled on a first come, first serve basis. Priority Privilege for NWA/Pinnacle can only be guaranteed up to 30 minutes prior to departure, thereafter, it is first come, first serve.


The jumpseat can be reserved up to 21 days in advance by Mesaba Airilnes employees eligible for flight deck jumpseat privilege. Pilots of other airlines are not eligible to make jumpseat reservations.

Care to say what is messed up here? I think it was a legitimate question and a source of some confusion among jumpseaters at our three airlines. Mainline has dictated to us that they have boarding prority over Mesaba on Pinnacle jumpseats thus creating an inconsistant jumpseat policy among the NW carriers.

Pinnacle jumpseat priority:

Pinnacle - class 4
Mainline NW - class 5
Mesaba, Alaska, and Hawaiian - class 6
All other reciprocal carriers - class 7
