I know this is my first post, but I found out some interesting information today:

Mesaba Airlines invites all interested students to stop by and visit with the recruiter at an information table on Tuesday, February 28 from 10am to 2pm on MavAve to learn about employment opportunities with this employer.

For more information about this employer coming soon to campus, check out their website at www.mesaba.com.

http://www.mnsu.edu/cdc/resources/recruiting.html

Search about 3/4 down the page… recruiting scheduled for the 28th! Either attrition has gotten way out of control, or they’re ramping up for something big.

Probably just looking for ramp agents. They (Mesaba) were running radios ads a couple weeks ago looking for rampers.

Better look long and hard before you go over there as a pilot. The finger is on the handle and they are ready to flush.

Info Session

If you look at the type of information they will be having, it's just an information session. XJ used to do a BUNCH of hiring out of MSU but between MSU completely jacking their program down the tubes and XJ going under, I think it's safe to say nobody's paying much attention to this.

Cya,

Is it Mesaba Aviation that is hiring or Mesaba Airlines..or MAIR?

Gotta be looking for more ground service people. Those jobs are a revolving door of people always have been, always will be. Many people take those jobs for the flight benefits, then realize they work too much to take advantage of them. Then they finally get some time off to use them and realize Northwest flight benefits are pretty much worthless.

The flight benefits are what you make of them regardless of what airline you work for. I non-reved about 40 times last year and rarely had a problem. Sat 1st class 1/2 the time including many international flights. Do you consider them worthless because you are on furlough? Worthless or Sour Grapes? If jumpseating for free on any airline and enjoying 1st class for $25 is your idea of worthless than I think you are just full of sour grapes. I wont mention how many times my parents non-rev in 1st class each year or how many trips I get to take my girlfriend on each year.

I think they may be hiring pilots at this time. AviationInterviews.com has a post on it from a pilot who recently interviewed with the company. I have also personally heard from upper management that they were preparing to "ramp up" with pilots. Possibly due to attrition, I'm not sure, but I doubt it.

I've heard similar mutterings and apparently there are several (normally used) training rooms locked-down/off limits, with training personnel coming and going frequently. Hmmmmmmm.........................

Hopefully it is because everyone is quitting because making 10K as an FO is a disgrace. An illegal alien from mexico makes more than that at a starting job.

My question is who would want to go work at Mesaba for the proposed pay scales and medical benefit costs? Sure you can nonrev but that still dont pay the bills!

Worthless because when I worked under the US Airways umbrella (PSA) it was $50 per year per person period. Fly anyone in the system (US, JS, YV ect.) no added charge. No different priorities on the different carriers just your hire date. Buddy passes right away. None of the free on XJ charge on NW or 9E oh but if it's a buddy pass they have to be on XJ and that whole imputed taxed crap... That's what I was referring to. Compared to the rest of the industry we have lousy flight benefits.

I can't believe you came to the Red Tail family and left behind those kick a$$ flight bennies that PSA gave you. If jumpseating for free or having to spend $25 to enjoy some drinks in 1st on a long flight gives you heart burn than I'd be affraid to hear your opinion about some more material issues. I never claimed that our flight benefits were industry best, but they are by no means "lousy" or "worthless" Get over it and go cry & whine about something that really matters.

Well actually they make that much without a job, if you know what I mean

Rossa.... yeah I just saw the same thing during recurrent. BTW does your husband fly here too? Just wondering, the class before mine had a husband/wife pair in it too.

I'm simply amazed how much of a jerk you are to everyone DetoXJ. He was simply comparing our benefits to others, and you tell him to go cry. What a loser you are. Enjoy the Saab cupcake.

Don't you still have guys on the street?

Skid has point.
From another Thread,
"Why would you want to work for ASA, Comair, Mesaba, or any regional Airline when Netjets is hiring 450 more pilots this year.
Im on year five making 106K base pay ( not counting holiday or overtime).
Free family medical, great 401K, short term, long term, and loss of Med ins. and I only work 14.5 days a month."

Regional Airline pay is Sad, Why do you guys put up with it. You are professionals but get paid like blue collar labors.

Because being a CSA for a whopping $5.91/HR is not what I wanted to do for a career. I was just making a point that compared to the other airlines the NWA benefits are the lowest. Now is it better than spending $800 on a first class ticket to Orlando, sure. Is it as good as $50 per year to fly anywhere anytime, hardly.

Fair enough WMUSIGPI. I appologize for my harsh comments. It's too easy to focus on all the negative crap going on and despite potential concessions coming, I still find a lot of value in our travel benefits. I was just trying to stick up for seomthing that I think is a good deal. Sorry again WMU.
