Yeah,
I talked to the FO who flew that one out today. It was either ac 527 or 529 put to pasture. One interesting note...evidently, nothing on the aircraft was taken out...all briefing cards, pillows, blankets, etc. were still onboard. As I understand it, as aircraft are retired from service with an airline, they have to be prepped, and obviously this one wasn't. Lots of rumors flying around the Mesaba crew rooms lately, let's see how this works out in the next month.
Again, thanks to all you brothers and sisters out there for your support. We're going to need all the help we can get in the near future.
I really do hope it works out in the right way for you folks. XJ has a great group of pilots...the rampers weren't all that bad either when I was there.
I knew when Bedford arrived he would turn a great place to Poo-Poo.
I know he's not there anymore. But he left it worse off, and it has continued down that road.
look at my last post on the "mesaba released this week?" thread. Not much info, but it is a little. The fact that nothing was removed from the ac kind of adds to the thought that maybe it is just going there for some maintenance, sure hope so.
I know when the 120s were retired to the desert by Expressjet that all of the briefing cards and anything else were all left on the airplane, I am curious about Skywest getting them out of there if that stuff is still there. They did empty(removed it) the catering carts.
Had a buddy pick one of these up for SkyWest. All cards had been removed but it had a bunch of MEL stickers still stuck all over in the cockpit. He had something like 11 write-ups on his flight from Roswell to Fresno including inop flaps and faulty airspeed indicators!
Way to go BigBoy, I see that A320 next to your name, How was trainning? I am still on Reserve.
60 days hmm plenty of time to paint it, seems like enough time to strip it down to bones and take to for one last flight to a final resting spot as well.
The 15 th is rapidly approaching so maybe NWA is wating to see if United has to liqidate chapter 7. Then make the AVRO announcment, based on the outcome. If UAL has to Selloff to pay the creditors there will be a scramble to fill the routes.
Just to add more info for the non-XJ crowd: TIMCO, an MRO outfit that our management has recently announced will be doing all heavy checks on both fleets, has a large operation in Goodyear. They do also have the ability to paint airplanes in GYR according to their web site.
We'll have to see how this plays out, but my guess, and hope, is that this will be a temporary visit to the sand box.
