Mesa pilots make the big bucks! Actually, according to airline pilot central, a first year jet FO makes a whopping $21 an hour. With a 76 hour guarantee on reserve, that comes out to $19,152 per year. The Mesa guys must be packed ten to a room in the crashpads out there in Hawaii.

Living the dream

They're all living in abandoned cars around the airport.

Yeah, but I was trying to give a more realistic (and accurate) picture.

. . . .there are no 1st year fo's in Hawaii
. . . .those rates don't include per diem
. . . . . or open time paid at 1.5
. . . . those rates/min guarantee aren't entirely accurate.

But the general picture is that yeah, Hawaii on 20k per month is pretty lean. Their choice, of course. Just know what you're getting into.

Pushin' in on your neighborhood, huh? :) Time to take the blocks out from under the bomber and move to a new place!

You'll see Mesa pilots getting beat down by DOG the bounty hunter soon, living in abandon cars, selling drugs, etc. But its cool... because they are doing it to help their families, not because their airline pays them like crap.
