Segment pay has a tendency to compromise safety!!! I saw a couple (Mesa EMB's) skip the deice pad a couple of years ago because of the line going to the pad was long. And yes, eveyone else was getting deiced!
Segment Pay = Lets Go, Lets Go!!! I don't want to be working for Free!!! Why do you think they lose there minds when the ramp is backed up in CLT!

Snipe, would you agree that bypassing Deice when icing conditions exist would constitute recklessness, if not total stupidity? Segment pay promotes this behavior and should be stopped. If you found out you or your family were being put in a precarious situation (see above deice comment) would you not be fighting mad? All Captains are qualified to be Captains and they know their plane better that the outsiders.

Next time you jumpseat go upfront and tell them how to taxi their aircraft too.

If you can dish it, you should be able to take it as well.

The high quality of folks (the vast majority, not every single individual) at Mesa is what makes it an okay place to work. No one knows better than one of their own, past or present. I'm one, and it's absolutely true. Argue away.
