Mesa Air Group Announces Expansion of Regional Jet Agreement With United Airlines
Friday October 3, 1:23 pm ET
PHOENIX, Oct. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mesa Air Group (Nasdaq: MESA - News) today announced that United Airlines has exercised an option under the companies' ten-year agreement to increase the number of 50-seat regional jets from 15 to 25. Mesa and United had previously signed an agreement for Mesa to provide 20 CRJ-700s, 15 CRJ-200s, and 10 Dash 8s. The new aircraft, which deliver in mid-2004, will bring the total number of Mesa aircraft under contract with United to 55. After exercising this option, United will still have an option for an additional 15 regional jets, the timing and mix to be determined at a later date.

"We are pleased to be given the opportunity to expand our relationship with United and further grow our regional jet operations," said Jonathan Ornstein, Mesa's Chairman and CEO. "We remain firm in our belief that the revenue-guarantee code share business model provides the most predictable and highest long-term returns and opportunities for our shareholders and employees. We'd like to thank United for their continued faith in Mesa and all our employees for their hard work, without which this would not have been possible."
Definitive terms and conditions for the additional aircraft remain subject to final documentation
That does mean more J4J for the United furloughs, which is a good thing I believe.
Bye Bye--General Lee
