mesa sucks, and the pilots that are "holding out" for an upgrade there are fools. I also worked at a craphole regional before moreing on to a real one. Just get the 1500tt and bail. That place is a joke, I would bang JOs daughter 7 ways from sunday though.

Can you really say that this is mesa bashing? Less than half the people who wrote in for that article were anti-go. Sure, some people hate them. Sure, some people love them. But, for now, they're still here.

Stranded in Atlanta airport by Freedom Airlines

I am a local physician and an Army reservist who just completed two weeks of desert training in New Mexico for a possible upcoming deployment overseas. Upon getting to Atlanta, our flight was delayed three times before being canceled with no promise of a flight the next day.
I have slept about two hours a night for two weeks as the Army simulated wartime and mortar attacks. We were offered $78 in exchange for a ticket that costs $1,496.60 round trip. We were offered no food and no sleeping arrangements other than to "hang out at the Atlanta airport.
One passenger was informed that the reason was that a flight crew could not be assembled in Roanoke to fly the plane. I saw no planes coming in on time and multiple cancellations by Delta.
This is a travesty and I was very disappointed in Delta. I rented a car; the Army will not reimburse me for this nor will Delta reimburse the Army. They get paid at the taxpayers’ expense for stranding soldiers in airports.
I was fortunate to find another Johnson City resident who did not want to stay indefinitely at the Atlanta airport; we rented the car and arrived home at 3:30 a.m. on Friday.
This may be poor news, but I am passionate about serving my country, and I was so disappointed when I was so excited about getting home only to be stranded by Delta Airlines and have to improvise a way home at my own risk, as I had no sleep, and at my own expense, as Delta does not reimburse after stranding you in an airport.

Neither, I just don't feel the need to let the flightinfo herd mentality to trash Mesa to get in the way of making up my own mind. You should try it some time!

Actually, there's something not quite right about this story.

Scuttlebutt is that Freedom Airlines lost it's DOT certification to transport military personnel. So if he traveled Freedom, it was probably not on the governments dime or the militaries time.

And really, how many times does he have to repeat what a great guy he is for being a soldier, and how terrible it is for a great hero like himself is getting screwed by Freedom? And he doesn't list his service branch or rank. Military guys came up with the phrase "hurry up and wait", because that's par for the course in the military. A tough vet like this tool wouldn't be crying like a little girl because of a few flight glitches.

My guess: he was a normal Delta passenger who got screwed by Delta due to Mesa's slipshod Freedom operation, and thought it would get him more airtime if he claimed to be a soldier. I call BS, and think he's a liar and tool.

Nor does he sign off as "Doctor", which every practicing physician in the world would do, because like being a solider, that's a darned fine accomplishment and something to wear with pride.

There is nothing more pathetic or sad than a non-veteran claiming veteran status. If he IS a vet, I'd hate to share a tent with this whinner on deployment.

GO! is nothing more than the physical manifestations of Ornstein's wet-dream. He himself gets to prosper at the cost of his employees and the all-too-stupid passenger.

Anybody who supports Orenstink's mid-term abortions called "airlines" don't deserve to be in a cockpit or in the cabin of any airplane, for they have shown deep flaws in their thought processes. GO! suck it!

Soverytired, The Gov't buys tickets from Delta, not freedom. There is no such thing as a DOT certificate to transport mil personnel with commercial tickets. All they have to do is have SATO arrange the travel. If you are talking about part 121 supplemental flying, a military charter, then yes they need that on a certificate.
BTW, cut the guy some slack. He probably hadn't been laid in two weeks and just wanted to get home. I suggest you sign up for the Guard and see first hand how life really works. PS- As a former ACA guy, I think JO blows. But I would like to see a picture of his daughter.
