A guaranteed interview is not a guaranteed job. Much the same way that Comair screwed a lot of people over when the 9/11 hit the fan.

What about this program, that guarantees interview after completion?

The checkride is not "easy" from my understanding & what I have heard from a few that did it there in Farmington AND you must pass the ride on the first attempt to get the guaranteed interview. A bust then a pass on the second attempt will not cut it and you will be on your way home minus the interview but on a positive note you will have your atp.:p :D

But.... "IF" you are prepared then you should be A-ok. I am going to do this after a few more hours in the Citation probably in the very near future IF I have not secured the interview coming in from the "outside" ( and as to date I have had little if any luck). I do believe that you pass on the first attempt then you definately get the interview and is one of the better ways to get "in" since Mesa is being flooded with resumes daily. Still working on getting a hold of Lori (again) and seeing what is going on. I guess I should stop being lazy and send her back the packet that she emailed me a few months ago BUT the others that received the same packet and that sent it back to her are still on the streets and have yet to be called so dunno what exactly is going on..

good luck and maybee see ya there:D

I wish I knew about that before I did my ATP, I just found out about that program yesterday. I sent my packet in about 7 months ago and have heard nothing, I am deciding if I should send them another one. Good Luck everyone!

Yeah, pretty good program that they have set up... I am still kicking myself present day that I did not go through the MAPD program since I could have been 121 much faster although the 350, and Citation have been a fun ride. Can't really say that I will miss 135/91 though. At 24 ( in my opinion) I think this environment is better tailored for the "older" folks. Has been a fun ride though and the experience factor I think has been priceless. You may want to email Lori directly and see if you can work something out. A good friend of mine is one of the more senior guys who came up through Air Midwest and he hasn't been able to do too much so dunno what it is going to take.

Having went through the COEX program I can say that the Mesa program is set up much better.

good luck

Mesa ATP Program/Crapshoot

Not necessarily, unless things have changed drastically in ten years.

I instructed at MAPD ten years ago. Along with training private, instrument and multi students, MAPD instructors also worked with ATP program trainees. I had couple of them while I was there.

Mesa check airmen who were also DEs gave the practical. ATP candidates who passed the ride the first time got the interview. Those who busted got a recheck and their certificates, if they passed, but no interview.

I will only say that there were those who passed . . . . and those who failed . . . if you understand what I'm writing.

I will put in another word about the MAPD program. I do not intend to start a debate about what is and what is not you-know-what. I will just say that it works. Students obtain their certificates, decent training, a decent education culminating in an A.S. in Aviation Techology from a fully-accredited school (meaning that credits will transfer for a four-year degree), and a Mesa interview at 300 hours, as long as they mind their Ps and Qs.

I do not care at all for Mesa Airlines as a company, but the MAPD program provides a great opportunity to start a career. And, don't forget, no one is holding a gun to your head to make you work there forever. I recall a post some time back from the wife of an MAPD grad. She said her husband went through the program, endured Mesa all the way through Captain, and landed at Alaska Airlines, which was his goal.

I know of a couple Mesa CA's who went through the ATP course. They said they had to "build the Baron" for their oral, but they went in knowing that, so it was fine.

When I say "build the Baron" I mean they were asked, amoung other things, the kind of safety wire used to secure the emergency exit windows in the cabin of the Baron - no kidding.

So, the program works, and will get you a guaranteed interview with Mesa. Once you get to the interview, you're on your own.
