I am going to get my MEI at ALLATPS in Chicago. It has been about 3yrs since I instructed in Singles and I would be interested in any tips on passing/conducting the ride. What is the best order to use in completing the maneuvers? Example:
Engine Failure on T/O
Normal T/O
Slow Flight
Power off Stall
Power On Stall
Engine Failure afer T/O
Drag demo
VMC demo
ect
ect
ect

Thank You in Advance

I'm not sure about the flying portion, but for the ground, you need to know the study guide inside and out. If you do, the oral will be cake. I haven't gone there, but have spoken to a few that have.

Good luck.

MEI practical

In my $0.02 opinion, it is the easiest instructor rating.

Of course, you are responsible for everything in the PTS. Although you are already a flight instructor, some examiners still ask FOI questions. Be prepared.

Know everything there is to know about Vmc, and be able to explain it. Know your airplane's systems. Not only must you be prepared to draw such things as the fuel system, electric system and hydraulic system, prop, etc., you must be able to teach them. The prop will be the reverse of a single.

You must teach during the flight. Other than that, it'll be very much a Commercial Multi ride out of the right seat. Your proposed flight profile looks fine, but my suggestion would be to do exactly what your instructor tells you. He/she knows what the examiner wants.

Hope that helps. Good luck with your practical.

Good luck to you in your training.

Have you found out who your examiner is?

Unless anything has changed you will be taking your checkride with Leslie Henniger. I had her for my CFI-A add-on. Good luck to you my friend. She is very thorough in the oral. KNOW THE PTS FRONT TO BACK. She has been known to misuse the current PTS by following the old one. She is a very cut and dry woman. No BS. On my ride, you could cut the tension in the air with a knife.

I am biased however, after not having a great experience with her. She basically took 700 bucks from me.

From what I understand she is the only examiner used by ALLATPS.

*NOTE* There was a recent change by the DuPage FSDO that states they will be doing all of the checkrides in the area. So, you may not have Leslie.

Anyhow, if you need any more info on any examiners in the area let me know, I work at DPA.
