OK I know I should know this but I'm drawing a blank

first class medical issued on NOV 1 , when does the first class expire? May 31st, right?

Unless I'm miscounting my months: yes.

Yup assuming your flying 121. Part 91 it is good until November 30 next year, then turns to a 3rd.

Did you seriously say that? A First Class medical never changes to a Second or Third class medical. You only loose privileges.

First Class medical, 6 months of First Class privileges, 6 months of Second Class privileges and lastly 12 or 24 months of Third Class medical privileges (depending on your age). And 91, 135 or 121 have nothing to do with how long a medical lasts.

Someone has some misguided anger. It's all the same. Does the title change, no, but its a lot easier to say yea its a second, rather than its a first class with second class privileges.

No, it's not "all the same." It does make a difference if you're applying for a job that requires a First Class and your First Class medical is more than six calendar months old. In this circumstance you do qualify, unless they specify that it must be within the last six calendar months. Sometimes hairs need to be split.

Mike, you're absolutely right. I've talked to AMEs that don't understand this either.

Yup I said it and now looking back at what I wrote I should had known not to answer this question in a short sentence or two in vague terms. It was early and I just woke up, sue me.
