I have a friend who is a commercial pilot, and he was just diagnosed with prostate cancer. He is scheduled for surgery in the near future for prostrate removal. The Dr.’s told him they would not do the surgery if he wanted them to try and save the nerves. The biopsy came back positive for cancer.
My questions are:
Has anyone else had this problem or know someone who has?
Where they able to get a medical after the surgery, if it has not spread?
How long where they unable to fly, and or how long is the recovery period?
What do they have top do to get there medical back?
My friend, as you can imagine, is terribly upset about all of this. I just want to see if I can get some info to help cheer him up. I have read everything on www.aviationmedicine.com and www.leftseat.com . Any other information will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for the responses!
