I am a recent college grad with a BS in aviation managment and flight operations. I have my commercial and CFI. I have been in the process of appying for OTS with the Air Force for a pilot position. I recently took my physical and found out that I missed the pilot requirerments, slightly, for hearing in one of my ears. It was only off by a few decibals. I have never had a problem with my hearing and still dont think I do. Is there any way I can go to a private audiologist, have him check my hearing to see if it is within regs, and get another test with the AF. This is the only thing that is holding me up for the physical and the appl. process. If there is anybody that has had a similar experience, I would greatly appreciate any advice you might have for me on what my next move should be.

Nack...

You mentioned that you are interested in the AF. Have you ever considered flying for the US Coast Guard? With your college degree, you could apply to USCG OCS (Officer Candidate School). From there you could request Aviation. I recently retired from the USCG after a 20 year career. I was able to fly for the last 17 yrs! Flew some great missions...saved lives, busted druggies, found illegal foreign fishing boats, mapped oil (Valdez), etc. I flew the HU-25 (Falcon 20)..which gets you Multi-engine jet time.

Check out www.uscg.mil or 1-800-GET-USCG

Good Luck!:)
