I would guess resumes, but the term he used was apps. Not exactly news from Derinda herself, it was more like info from a friend who flies with a NJA guy in the Reserves. Good point, that would be a ridiculous number of apps.

Although, if I understand it correctly, you now have to send in a completed app with your resume and cover letter. That's changed since I sent mine in, but there have been other threads on that subject. I looked at the NJA pilot recruitment website last week and they've got the app there in .pdf format. If that's the case, they may have 10,000 apps but they weren't all sent out by HR in response to resumes and cover letters being submitted.

Hope that helps clarify,

Swede

That makes more sence. Before Dec they would have to go over each resume to see if you qualify, then mail out the app. But with apps online now, pilots could just fill it out and send the app in with the other stuff.

Hey Swede, My dates are the same as yours, except I got the email for an interview on Jan 3rd. I interview later this month. I have comparable time to yours, no mil, and I had several internal recs. I'm also typed on two of the aircraft they use, but I'm not really sure that's important since you do a complete sim as though it was the first time. Do you know anyone inside?

Internal Contacts

I have two internal recs and am working on a third and fourth. I talked to one of them recently and all he said was that I am at the mercy of HR's timeline at this point. Knowing that there is a fine line between being persistent and being a pest, I am erring on the side of caution.

If they're getting that many apps, do you think anyone has much of a chance anymore without an internal LOR?

everyone in my interview group had internal LORs......I do not know for sure if it is a must.....but they are swimming in apps now and can be very picky....and they said they will be getting very picky....i hope i get picked!
