NBAA is now advising parking is limited at KAGS for the 2003 Masters Tournament. They are advising parking might be full as early as tomorrow, thus, all aircraft arriving are being given 10-15 minutes to drop passengers and reposition the aircraft to Aiken SC (KAIK), or Thomson GA KHQU). You should not need an additional slot reservation to return the same day to pick up passengers (however, I strongly urge you double check with ATC first!).

PSP (metal overlay) was put down several years ago to create additional parking, however, due to heavy rains (2-4" in the last two days), they cannot tow aircraft on the PSP.

I was just in there today and it is getting tight.

Hell, I just assume tell the boss's that Bush's closed and fly into Aiken. Been going there for 5 years in a row now and I've never been able to find crew rooms in Augusta (during the Master's). We always end up driving the 60 !@#$ miles to Aiken to get a room. I'll be at the Sheraton again this year (hopefully after a 5 mile drive)!

Don't worry about it, it's going to be rained out this year. I'm just going to drive over from ATL, and hopefully we will see some golf tomorrow.

I went over the last few days....its crazy as usual, tanker your fuel is the best way!
The rain is not keeping them away!
Some crews have hotels as far away as Columbia SC....
arrivals and departures are quick.....the ramp is just a ZOO!

Masters

Has anyone been into AGS or AIK today? How does the ramp look at either place? Are they filling up the ramp up yet?
We are scheduled for arrival tomorrow afternoon.

Capt601;

The ramp was packed nearly all day but there hasn't been any info out of NBAA on parking restrictions. Most of the planes I saw today were allowed to stay but I did notice some coming over from AIK.

If the weather holds out, which it's forecast to do, tomorrow may be a VERY busy day.

Just wondering, How is it departing out of there? We are flying into DNL today, and planning on a 1800 ETD tomorrow, are they pretty good about keeping the departure times, or do they go out the window as everybody gets backed up waiting to depart? What about departing VFR and picking up the clearence in the air, is that an option, or do they frown on that? One more, planning on going to the tournament tomorrow, how is the parking over there, do you have to ride a shuttle in or anything like that? Thanks

56xdriver,

From what I've seen in the past, they do their best to keep on time, and do a pretty good job at it. I've never departed VFR, but it would be my guess they'd frown on that as their quiet swamped. This week between DNL, AIK, HQU and AGS, they'll run about 4000-5000 operations.

As far as driving to the tournament, get on Washington Road off I-20. Along the left side of the road as you get close to Augusta National, there are places to park (you'll be within 3-5 blocks of the main gate). Costs run between $10-20 typically. If you continue closer to the course, turn right on Berkmans Road, there will be parking on the right and you can enter one of the side gates. I don't know what they charge as it's usually people filling up their yards. If you get there early, you might get lucky and park in the National parking lot. There are no shuttles that I know of that run back and forth. Traffic will be your only problem.

Hope you get this before you go!

Have a great time.
