I already have my PPL, sick of mom and pop flight schools. I would like to go a more professional route at training. I have done my homework and have narrowed the options to ATP/AirBen or the Mesa PACE program at Farmington, NM. The time line for both these schools is about 1 year. At mesa it's shorter/cheaper but you only get about 300 hours for that amount of time and it also means that I will have to continue flying at the $hitty 61 schools.. At ATP I have to move states and it requires more sacrifice. I know about Mesa but after talking with a few pilots who had the regional experience, it's apparent that all regionals are almost the same, besides I got my eyes on something better. What do you suggest?

Go MAPD

MAPD is by far the best way to go. It's a very hard program, but if you graduate with high enough grades, they will interview you. You'll also fly part 121 right out of the gate. The training you get will serve you far better than flying patterns with a PPL student at a Mom and Pop.

You'll hear a lot of smack about Mesa being a lousy place to work, but ALL regionals suck, especially the first year or two.

Good luck!
