Just a couple questions I couldn't find clear answers to in the search for Mountain Air Cargo folks.

First, is the payscale on airlinepilotcentral.com current? If hired on as a First Officer on the ATR how long does it take to make captain on the Van or ATR? What are your working hours like and how many flight hours do you log per month? Where do folks usually move-on to? By working at MAC are there any special employment considerations from Fedex?

Thanks for the help and info.

I left MAC some time ago... however one thing that hasn't changed and probably will never change. There is NO in to FDX from the feeders.

The word was while I was there that in the history of MAC's FDX feeder flying only one guy from MAC ever got on with trunk and that was before FDX was the place to be.

At least first year pay for ATR FO is. That is what I was offered.

You will have to complete a one year contract on the ATR, then bid a Van position, if any is open. After one year on the van you can return to the ATR as FO with the van captain pay. Get in line for the upgrade. Don't know how long it will take.

What are your working hours like and how many flight hours do you log per month?

Some ATR lines out of IND or MEM go out and back in 6-7 hours. For example you show at 1am and you will be back at 7am. There are some day runs out of MIA too. Most lines are Tue-Fri, with Sat standby. Most runs are 2 hours long. so do the math. 8-9 hours per week.

Where do folks usually move-on to? By working at MAC are there any special employment considerations from Fedex?

Don't know. There are many companies hiring out there. As far as I know NO special employment considerations from Fedex.

If you are looking for a time builder position I would recommend you to go to a regional. Take their crap and fly does four days trips. You might upgrade in 2 years. If you are looking for QOL, MAC is a great place. You will be home every day (if you move to your base) and will have weekends and holidays OFF. With two kids that in a couple of years will be teens, I'd like to spend as much time as possible with them. I have worked for companies that kept me 20 days out in a row. Don't wan't to do that anymore. My family comes first.

Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

Is there someone in particular to email or fax resumes to at MAC? I did the online app a few weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet. Do you HAVE to be an F/O on the ATR from the get go, or can you apply directly for a Caravan position if you already have PT-6 experience?

Does MIA go senior?

What are the runs like out of MIA or FLL? Where do they go? etc
Thanks

ATR/F27 MIA MKJP/MKJS
The caravan and shorts, MIA/Naussau...?
FLL/.......?
all are day runs.....:cartman:

FLL to EYW, MTH

Not easy to get FLL.

MIA is a LONG day no matter what.
MIA to Nassau or Freeport. Both is an all day layover.
Van goes to Freeport (senior position) Shorts goes to Nassau
(no openings expected)

ATR F/O MIA is usually open, good luck living in MIA on F/O pay.
80 hr/month flight time.

You can start in the Van if you have 1000 PIC and 2500 (sometimes 1500)
Probably your best bet.
