what are the conditions necesary for a low visibility take off?

rvr less than the cat1 rvr
rvr less than 450 feet
or
rvr less than 1200 feet?

thanks

different strokes for different folks, ie., different minimums for different types of operations.

Part 91, General Aviation, has no legal minimums.

Commercial carriers have a slew of different mins according to the type of operation.

What type of operation are you thinking of?

I think there's an actual regulation that stipulates a takeoff alternate if you're taking off below landing minimums.

The rest of it will be found in the operator's OpSpecs which, while taken from a "master" list, will vary due to the specific operator's authorizations and equipment. In general, though, the level of runway lighting and RVR readings available dictate how low OpSpecs will allow you to takeoff.

Fly safe!

I'll just add to that- The airport page in your charts also publishes a takeoff minimum, so you must use the higher of either the OpSpecs or the published minimum.

For the place I work for.

1/4mile/1600RVR -Adequate visual reference (HIRL or CL or RCLM)

1000RVR -2 operative RVR's(both reporting above 1000RVR) and CL

600RVR - 3 RVR system (1 may be inop the others must indicate >600RVR) and CL and RCLM

This is usually reflected onthe back of the 10-9 page unless higher take-off mins exist for the runway.

Good qauestion, made me review for my PC.

The only thing you have to remember is "cover your ass." That means getting off your lazy butt and studing the relavent material instead of posting on this forum. Are you really going to trust your career to someone elses interpetation of the FAR's. The sooner you learn this stuff yourself the better.

Bet you copied off everyone else in school too.

wow! Take it easy buddy. The Training and Instruction portion of the forum may not be the area for you to be browsing. Especially if questions like this make you so hostile.
