Great way to build time! I was "Cap't Scotty..Sky 590" for a radio station out of San Berdoo in the late 80's. Only did it for 14 months but it was a kick!

I was going to do some PT traffic for these guys (I think its the same guys) when I lived in SYR. Nice people down there in Cortland. I rented out of Weedsport.

I flew traffic in the 1990's in the PHL and NYC area for the outfit out of PNE (Kevin's company). Had a blast, talked to the guy who bought Kevin's company and I may do it again part time.

Is the Cortland operation single pilot or do you take a reporter? I like doing the reporting myself and flying single pilot but sometimes we had a reporter for Mon Night Football and some other special events in the PHL area where they would put extra flying into the sked.

The only place traffic backs up in SYR is just north of the city on 81 where 690 comes into 81. Exits 13 and 11 off route 690. Other wise unless there is an accident or downtown construction the job/flying should be a breeze outside of dealing with the upstate NY wx. Also in Liverpool just off the end on RWY28 where Old Liverpool road, route 57 and Vine meet during rush hour going home can ge backed up but that really pushing it compared to cities like DCA, NYC and PHL.

I fly traffic around the toledo area, i love it, its a easy way to log 2.5-3.0 hours a day. i do the am and pm shifts from 630-830 and 345-515, and plust it keeps your communication skills with atc fresh and its nice to know you have a good relationship with atc when they give you the same squawk code just about every morning and afternoon. Great expirence for a low time paying the dues kind of pilot

I did it all...flew...talked on air. It was great! Was the first one on the scene when a train derailed in SanBerdo...it was 5 miles from Rialto and I was just coming around the corner at I-15 and I-10. Logged about 4 hours a day in a C-172. Fun times!

I used to call up ATC and say, "Traffic Watch 19610" and they'd leave me alone as long as I stayed out of ONT's traffic...west on I-10, cut under the departure route near POC, east on I-60, south on I-15 then west on Hwy91 thru Riverside then to SBD and back west on I-10. Whole route took 1 hour. Did it twice a day.

Does anyone know of any operators in North Carolina, especially in the Charlotte area?

Thanks
