I know that this thread has been done before, but not recently. I've got 560TT and I am about to lose my Jump Pilot position. I am pretty much able to go anywhere.

Can anyone recommend companies or locations that would be my best bet for finding a low time job? I'd like to get my CFI, but as it is right now, I just don't have the cash. I hold Comm SE, ME and Instrument ratings, and have about 30 ME, and about 350 XC

Everyone tells me that it's more about who you know, unfortunatly, I don't know anyone. If you wish, you can email me at [email protected]

You’ve got jump hauling experience, your mobile and spring is on the way.

I’d say you should get yourself to areas of the US that have a lot of jump activity and hang out, w/o a CFI someone like yourself at the level of experience…

Not trying to sound gloomy but your gonna have to look at what your doing now, hauling jumpers may be your gig for the foreseeable future. I’ve known guys who hauled for a 1,000 hrs or so then landing a decent charter gig.

Good luck wherever you go.

There's nothing wrong with hauling jumpers. It's got pluses and minuses like all the time building jobs out there. It's not structured flying which is a minus to a lot of airlines. It's a great in to getting twin turbine pic time which is a big plus with a lot of airlines. I built most of my time doing that for the same reason as you. No money for further ratings and I was able to work construction during the week to support my family. I went straight to a regional from a jump pilot gig. Look up the USPA website and start going through the drop zone directory. Now is the time to contact the DZ's. Best bet for building a lot of SE time (which is what you need for a while till you've got enough time for one of the twins)is one of the smaller DZ's, otherwise you'll get 2 hours a day while you watch the Twotter/King Air go up and down all day. You also might try contacting the Metro Traffic op's around the country, most fly 172's. I think there's also a banner tow pilot ad currently on climbto350.com. A lot depends on how persistant and dedicated you are to your goal. PM me if you like, I was in your shoes a couple of years ago, you can do it. Good Luck

Alaska might be a good place to fly with low hours - but inorder to get a job, you basically have to bite the bullet and come talk to the CP, etc in person.

Just my 2cents
