Any thoughtful input on the following is appreciated:
I have about one year left on a training contract/note with my present employer. (I don't care to debate the evils of training contracts or whether they're legally enforceable, etc. I'm convinced I need to stay the year, if for no other reason than to leave on good terms.) However, I'd like to position myself for a regional job when my contract is up. (Along with many, many other hopefuls, I know...)
Is it too early to send out resumes? When should I try to interview? Do any/some/all airlines view the ablility to go to work "tomorrow" a prerequisite for an interview invitation?
When do I tell the prospective employer of my need to stay awhile at my present job? In the resume? When they call for an interview? In the interview?
I'm sure prospective employers will be understanding, to a limited extent, of the need to fulfill present obligations. I simply don't want to hurt my chances by jumping the gun, and starting the process too early. Thanks for your input.
