Hey All,
I was hoping to find people that have experienced jumpseating to BKK. What is the procedure? what cargo airlines fly from the States to Bangkok?. Any tips or info?
Thanks.

Haven't tried it on the jumpseat, but Northwest and United both go there through Tokyo Narita. That the only US Airline way that I'm aware of.

I live in BKK now and its a pretty easy place to get to. As stated, NW and UA from Narita are the best way to jumpseat here. But be aware, even though there are lots of open seats showing, there will be large numbers of non-revs. If you have access to ZED tickets, then get some and then you have the option of taking Singapore, ANA, and Thai. Once you get off of the airplane in NRT, you will have to go back through security to get to your connecting flight. I found that if you have a non-rev ticket, it will make your life a lot easier. You have to have some kind of ticket to go through the security checkpoint or they send you to immigration. If you dont have the ticket, you have to try to explain that you are jumpseating and dont have a ticket. Unless you speak japanese, that is not easy to do. Enjoy your trip.

I know that CASS is only for domestic US only, is it possible to jumpseat internationally on UPS or FedEx?

I know it's possible with Polar, Kalitta and Atlas.

That would be a big, fat, GIGANTIC NO.

Something about them falling under some other security requirement, or so I've heard.

I know, the above mentioned have no cockpit doors, just like FX and UPS, but somehow they are allowed to carry JS'ers int'l.

Gemini operates PVG-BKK. The airplane starts in BRU and goes RUH-PVG-BKK. I know a very long way around. We are happy to take jumpseaters.

You would also need the requisite visas.

Guys and gals, be careful about jumpseating through mainland China. The visa that is required for ACM/Jumpseater is the "crew visa". The only way to get those is through Chinese Embassy in Washington D.C. and must be sponsored by the airline.

You cannot get the "crew visa" over the counter by yourself. Tourist visa will not work. If you are caught (even if you do not disembark the aircraft) they will raise a stink with the airline you flew in on with a nasty warning and perhaps slap it and big fine and a possible jail time for the individual.

If you already have the Chinese "crew visa" from your company then it shouldn't be a problem but then again check with the embassy before going.

Don't let all the skyscrapers and Ferraris fool you. It is still very much a communist country.
