Folks, which is better "Higher Power" or "Flight Training International" as far as getting a B737 type rating?
I know FTI is a little cheaper than HP.
Any info, suggestions, ideas & thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Do a search over on the Majors section of the interview boards. There are a lot of Higher Power supporters over there. However FTI has received some good reviews as well.

I am looking at getting the type as well and am looking at HP, K&S, CPT and FTI. I also just got some info on PanAm in Miami, but nobody seems to have much experience with them.

Good luck.

I went through Higher Power's 737 type course last year and was very pleased with the school and the training, good ground instructors and great sim instructors, they are also tight with SWA. They are WIA and VA approved, the WIA picked up what my GI Bill didn't cover, and I was also reimbursed for the hotel in Dallas and the gas to get there and back. Check into your state's WIA program.

I did my 737 rating with PAN AM in 2002.... I can only tell you something about the independent study course.......

I ENROLLED MY TRAINING PROGRAMM WITH ANOTHER COMPANY (SORRY I FORGOT THE NAME...IT WAS ONE OF THE WELL KNOWN SCHOOLS...) AND AS IT WAS TIME TO GO THERE I WAS INFORMED, THAT THE COMPANY WAS BOUGHT OUT, BUT ABOUT OUR COURSE WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF BY PAN AM...
SO WE ARRAIVED THERE SOME KIND OF SURPRISINGLY....
THE GROUNDSCHOOL WAS (SORRY TO SAY THAT) NOT ACCEPTABLE... IT WAS JUST A SLIDESHOW OF PICTURES WE HAD ACCESS TO ON THE HOME STUDY PART ALREADY..... THE INTERMEDIATE CHECKOUTS WERE SOME KIND OF...LETS DO IT TOGETHER, JUST TO MAKE SURE.....NOBODY FAILS....
THE SIM SESSIONS APPEARED ALSO SOME KIND OF OUT OF THE POCKET....

IT WANT TO MAKE CLEAR.....AND ME OTHER COLLEAGUES (EXPERIENCED REGIONAL AIRLINE CAPTAINS) FELT THE SAME.....IT WAS AN INSTRUCTOR RELATED PROBLEM...... AFTER COMPLAINS TO THE PROGRAM MANAGER THINGS IMPROVED, BUT AT THE END WE WERE PAYING THE BILL....EITHER BY NEEDING AN EXTENSION OF TIME OR PAYING MORE MONEY FOR EXTRA NEEDED ATTENTION.....(BY THE WAY BY AN EXCELLENT INSTRUCTOR)

THE FACILITY ITSELF WAS OK, THE SIMS WERE OK AND FUNCTIONABLE THE 737-PROGRAM MANAGER DID AT LEAST HIS BEST TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS.....

THIS IS MY ONLY EXPERIENCE WITH PAN AM BUT I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND A TRAININGS FACILITY...THAT HANDLES PROBLEMS LIKE THIS.... ESPECIALLY BY TRYING TO BLAME ALL DIFFICULTIES TO THE STUDENTS......

I know Higher Power quite well and can recommend 'em highly.

Mark Sterns, the CEO has been in the 737 training business for a long time and knows his stuff.

Then there is the free re-current ground schools at H-P....Which I did not get at Dalforth after having gotten another type rating over there a year later...Asked 'em to sit in for a G/S class, a year or so after I got the rating at full price...Negative, Dalforth wanted $1,500 for the G/S..I offered $500.00, they told me to take a hike.

As for Pan-Am, yup, done some training there as well, but some of their stuff is a bit "run-down"...Would rather pay extra for a good program, which H-P can offer.

My 2 cents anyway.
