Everyone,

Sorry for the blatant post folks.

I am looking for tips from anyone who may be able to provide some leads. I am not from the area, but I am looking for ANY turbine / or multiengine turboprop PIC job in MEM area. If you have any ideas, tips, or rumors, please send them my way. Only thing I am looking for is 12,500 or over (EMB 110 or bigger).

I have a wife and son, and would like to move to Memphis asap so he can get acclimated before the tough teenage years.

Thank you all!!

Dude,

Just suck it up and apply at Pinnacle or Mesaba (both have MEM bases) and BE AN FO like the rest of us. Then work your way to captain via seniority. You will NOT be a new hire captain at Mesaba and you seem put off by the fact that you have to be a lowly Fo from the get go at Pinnacle as well. Just get your stuff out there, get an itnerview then worry abou the stripes!!!

How long should one wait? How many furloughs should one dodge? I dunno about you but my career clock is ticking and a little louder that I'd like.

Answers:

1. As long as you have to, as short as you can.

2. As many as possible.

3. When it stops ticking....you are either dead, or age 60!

The one thing I have learned in this biz is that you go where the job is. If you try to pick a city to say here we are, you are severly limiting your career potential.

It is a rare pilot indeed that can say they spent an entire career with one outfit.

I thought I have bounced around, but I met a guy that just retired off of his 12th airline last year. Some of his resume includes, Eastern, Braniff, Pan-Am, Peoples Express, Air Florida etc etc.

Oh and in MEM I hear a little freight outfit called FEDERAL something or other is hiring. You may want to try them, I think they are flying old ratty 76's plus some other assorted trash nowadays!! :)

PIC in MEM

His chances for going to Fed Ex are ... well lets just say slim and none and slim just left the building until he gets his 1000 Turbine PIC over 25,000 lbs. Thats a HARD minimum at Fed. Has been and, as I have been informed, ALWAYS will be. You can try Fed Ex corporate but good luck unless you know Fred himself and all that does is get you a foot in the door.

You could try Mountain Air Cargo or Empire .. I think they both fly caravans for FED out of MEM. Or try Airnet and within a year you could be in the lear but youll have to be PIC of a Barron until then.

As for Pinnacle/Mesaba .. I know they are hiring and growth looks good as 9E continues to take deliveries. XJ should get another aircraft type or expanded flying this May when 9E enters contract talks.

Disclaimer: The last statement is just my opinion and is not back by any factual information.

I guess Collierville (MEM suburb) won top 10 places in the US to live in Forbes or other similar magazine recently.

Yes I am attempting FedEx and I need the 1000 PIC in 12,500 or >.

Thank you all that have offered information.

I am in GS at 9E.
