Looking for leads

I'm curious how do people get into corporate or charter heavy iron. Every ad I see, they want type ratings with time in type. Can't blame them, but how does one get it aside from forking out 25k+ for type?

Ideally, I'd like to get into a mid or large-cabin size airplane based in SoCal. It doesn't matter to me if it's 91 or 135.

Please PM me with any leads, advice, or just flame away right here. :D

Then you'll probably have to start in a small-cabin airplane doing 135 in SoCal. That's the harsh reality these days.

Does your current employer operate larger aircraft? In my experience the best way to move to a bigger airplane is to do a good job in your current position and demonstrate that you are the best candidate for promotion. Does your current employer know that you want to move to a bigger airplane?

Unfortunately we don't... that's the problem.
 
In that case your best bet may be to use your current type to get a job with a company that does operate larger aircraft, and work your way up. Then there is the old network, network, network approach. Maybe there are some guys you have worked with that have moved on that can be of help?
