This is for all you guys looking for a Guard unit that is hiring. These planes have a very cool/important mission and you will definitely see many parts of the world you thought you'd never see. It's also a chance to fly a brand new military airplane. Something many of us have not done. The unit is in Harrisburg PA.

The Pennsylvania Air National Guard’s 193rd Special Operation Squadron is currently hiring PILOTS. The 193rd currently flies the EC-130E aircraft, with conversion to the J Model EC-130 taking place in spring 2003. We are looking to fill Traditional, part time, Guardsman positions. No fulltime, Technician/AGR, positions are available. We are a specialized Unit with a very high operations tempo. Potential candidates must live within 150 miles of our Unit, or be willing to relocate. Prior military service is expected, however, non-military applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. All interested applicants should contact the Unit to get all the specific details and application requirements. Capt Seth Goldman and Major Bill Harris

Good luck, we're all counting on you.

I would not contact Sgt Chestnut. He is probably the unit recruiter. They won't get involved until the pilots have selected their candidates. Definitely contact the officers. They are most likely running the selection board.

As far as information about the unit, I don't know much except what I've read. The wing has a one of a kind airplane. There are no other airplanes in the AF that do what these guys do. Which means you are in demand whenever something happens around the world. As far as the mission, the unclassified mission is to broadcast radio and TV signals to desired “targets.” I’d be willing to bet the classified version of what they do has a lot to do with intelligence. Imagine being Abdul Iraqi watching Saddam’s propaganda on TV when suddenly the signal is jammed and he is now learning the facts from Radio Free C-130.

If you wife is the type that can’t deal with you being TDY, or you can’t be away from her, then this unit may not be the best for you. But if you’re up for some excitement in your life….
