Quick question:

Let's say I've had the opportunity to get in a full motion level D simulator of a CL-65. My question is how in the hell do i log that? My first guess would be as sim/FTD. But can I log that as total time and multi-turbin time as well? If any one know the FAR to go along with this please let me know. I've looked and looked......no luck!

Thanks in advance

Do a search and you will find this horse beaten to death.

P.S. Sim time is sim time, nothing more.

If you want to do a little checking in the FAR, look at the definition of "flight time" and "aircraft." you'll find that "flight time" has to be in an "aircraft" and that even the best full motion sim in the world doesn't fit the definition of "aircraft."

yeah, it gets logged as SIM time not FTD time. I think since its level D its a SIM as opposed to an FTD. Definately can't be in the TT column though. Landings and approaches can be logged for currency.

I do believe that insurance companies will accept level D sim time. It is one of the "paths" that you could take at FlightSafety after you earn your comm. ME. You go to one of their sim centers and "fly" right seat for a pilot that is being trained there. You get paid to do it. After 1000 hours, you can be hired, often by a company that employs one of the pilots you right-seated for. When I was considering them, it did seem like an interesting option.
