91.205 lists equipment to fly under IFR. I'm not talking about flyingunder IFR, I'm talking about flying an approach under VFR for currencypurposes.

You can't fly a VOR approach without a VOR receiver because if youdon't have the receiver then you can't receive the VOR. Kinda hard tofollow a course when you can't even see it, yes? It has nothing to dowith the IFR equipment because you're not IFR.

91.205 doesn't say a word about requirements for pilot currency, and 61.57 doesn't say a word about the aircraft's equipment.

Forgive the lack of spaces, it's eating them randomly for some reason.

Yes, if you have what it takes in the VFR aircraft to fly a simulated approach and have the safety pilot with you, then there should be no problem. If you super cub has only the VFR equip, a turn coordinator and a VOR and you want to practice no-gyro approaches, then go for it.
