Logging as safety pilot

Been looking in the FAR's for a bit, I can't seem to find the part where it justifies the legality of having one under the hood and one flying visual - and both log PIC. Can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Nice site Mark! I'm already forgetting all the CFI stuff I had down pat 7 months ago when I was active. Time to start reading the FARs at the FLs instead of Playboy and USA today.

Thanks. I'm not too sure about USA Today, but Playboy is definitely better than the FAR.

On the FAA website you can find the legal departments thoughts on a bunch of subjects, here is the link for this topic

Two pilots can log PIC, one as sole manipulator and the other as acting PIC, safety of the flight. Hope it helps.
