Ok, I've just completed my first logbook. For those of you that are familiar with it, its a basic "Standard Pilot Log - ASA-SP-30" types.....The normal sized black ones......I hope someone knows the one I'm talking about. Anyway, the new one I've bought is the brown "Jeppesen Professional Pilot Logbook" - the one with the light green pages in it.

Ok, now this is where the problem lies......I'm going to transfer the figures from the last flight in the new book and continue logging from there....but the new logbook had a column for BOTH day & night landings (my prior logbook only has on logbook for landings - day or night) - so I'm not sure what landings were day or night.

How do I transfer the figures?? By a good estimate of how many were day/night landings or should I just start fresh and not add the ones from my old logbook??

Any suggestions or advice??

Well I'm sure you logged your night hours in your old logbook....

Just use the landings you did during your night flight times. If you can prove that you're current you should be fine.
 
I notice you have 750 hours. Just a quick question, how do you log your hours? Every flight or once a day with the important stuff in the remark sections, (12 legs etc..)
OR is there and FAR about this?
Just curious...
 
I log my stuff by flight. Now that I'm in the 'professional Logbook' (sounds better than it is I guess) - shall I start logging by day? Is that more 'pro'? Or shall I continue logging by flight?

There are a couple of different thoughts here. Personally I logged each flight. I have seen where a pilot got himself out of problems with the feds, because he could prove he wasn't flying that particular aircraft at the time in question. Then there is the group who fly commercially that don't keep logbooks at all, using their employers' flight/duty time records and their 8410s to comply with the FARs. Less evidence to trip you up when interviewed by the FAA.
