I just bought logbook pro a few days ago, and I would like to set up my currencies in the most efficient way. Only problem is that I have no idea how to.

Secondly, for you CFI's that have the program, what special logging do you have setup (endorsements, etc)

Thanks for the help,

Mike

Iceman,

I use LBP but I don't use it to track my currencies or enter endorsements.

Here's a suggestion for you - hope it helps. While you are on line, open LBP and select the 'Online' drop-down menu. From there, select 'Discussion Forums'. It will bring you to a message board similar to this one. Post your questions there and I'm sure you'll get more help.

Greetings!

Right now the software is too cumbersome and time-consuming to quickly enter the various regulatory items and have them flash at the appropriate times. It's faster to use the PDA and schedule reminders a week before anything major is due and not worry about the rest.

If we get to dream a bit, make a download that installed F.A.R. required currency for private, instrument, commercial, CFI, ATP, and student pilot levels. Then the endusers could customize the other items.

I agree, I can't wait til v.2 comes out, even though I just dropped 100 bucks for the latest version. Whatever you guys do, makes sure everything is importable. :D

It isn't that difficult to configure currencies.

First, read how to do it in "help", then play around in "currency editor". Although the method of construction is a little "computer geekish", once you understand what the editor is trying to do you will begin to get creative.

I customized a new column in my logbook with a "check box" so that I could reset IFR currency with a single event, like an IPC, an ATP ride or type rating (with the signoff from the examiner). Any time I put a check in the box, I begin a six month "green light" for IFR currency.

Give it a try.

I have been a user for 2.5 years. I really dont know how to use all of the functions because my wife enters all of my time for me. She says its AOK. Great to have such a good timekeeper.

Man Simon, your wife handles your logbook for you? Lucky man. I tried to get my girlfriend to help me transfer records from my "analog" logbooks over to Excel. What did I get?

"F*ck you! You can do that crap yourself!"

Heh - that's a good question! It's been long enough that I don't remember, but now that I think about it - it makes sense. Of course, at least with the women I date - it's hit or miss which "mood" you're gonna get, regardless of the time of the month! :D

That is a good idea there, but if I set a "6 approach" currency, won't the system reset itself anytime I do that 6th approach? At least that is what I hope the system would do.

Nope.

Currency editor has two basic "questions" it asks: 1) "Any to Pass?" and 2) "All to Pass?"

I have mine set up for "Any" IPC Check, or "All" six approaches to pass for IFR currency.

Even though you probably do some "tracking by navigational aids", remember to do some "holding" during your six month window.

Getting my wife involved with time keeping was as easy as asking her if she wanted to help out with my job. HEHEHEHEHE. Now she is on my arse that I keep more accurate records in my little pocket logbook that I take to work with me. A little manipulation on a guys part is not all bad.

Big D.........I forget.......your not a XJ FO are you.

Sorry, I was in a hurry the other day. Now that I look again, I may not have understood your question about "resetting"

When you hit the number "six" approach, the the system resets the six month "window" to begin at the first of the six approach's date. When you pass six months from that date with no additional approaches, you go out or currency again. It's a rolling currency, and logbook pro saves you the hassle of having to look back through your logbook to see if you are still currrent.

Is that the answer you needed?

Resurrection time.

I have entered all of my time in Logbook Pro, which is all training time, as of right now.

The question I have is: If at some point in time I decide to print everything out and replace my paper logbook entirely with the electronic one; wouldn't the time that is logged as dual recieved be incomplete since I won't have my instructor's signatures? Would I just use the paper logs to prove all the training while still having the electronic printout to keep everything tidy?

Thanks

You mean MOST not ALL of your time is training time, right? All of your solo cross country should be PIC and not dual received, and any other flying you did between your PL and your new CFI that was not dual received. You did do some other flying, right? :)

I see.

I'd try to build up that PIC time a little, if finances permit.

I have all of my time in Logboook Pro. I just keep my paper books to show signatures. As of yet, no one is interested in seeing my logbook, including both of my former charter jobs.
